Ok while I was looking for the mocha frosting, I found this.... wasnt even aware I had this.... anyway here it is....this sounds more like what I read on here somewhere.

Not really "twinkie filling" filling
1 C milk
1 C sugar (granulated)
1/2 C Crisco
1 tsp vanilla extract
5 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 C butter

Mix flour with milk in saucepan, boil until thick, pull from heat and cool. Once cooled, you should take a mixer and beat it until it's fluffy, usually about 10-15 minutes then, add the rest of the ingredients one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then spread filling between layers of cake.
(hint- the longer the flour mix is beaten the fluffier it will be!)

icon_lol.gif Thanks! Funny this post comes up because a coworker of mine was showing me the other day that it was the 75th anniversary of the twinkie and I told him I would have to work on making one...

You're welcome...you know what might be funny is to make the cake in a loaf pan and then carve and ice it to look like a twinkie. You could use a damp sea sponge to get that spongey cake look.

I bet this recipe would be good as filled cupcakes too.

cool going to have to try this... I was bored and a bit hungry yesterday so I went to the commissary. they had those cake cups that are "dented" in the middle for strawberry shortcake (hopefully you know what I mean) and I bought those. They didnt have any strawberries though so I thought, since these cakes are very moist and great tasting, almost like the twinkie, I still bought them, made the not really twinkie filling filling, and stuck it on these cakes.... it tasted JUST LIKE the twinkie!
