I m working on my first wedding cake icon_surprised.gif they are a 10", 8" and 6" and 3 " tall, I just need enough mmf to cover the cakes and make some leaves for the top...2 batches will do it? Do I need more? and by the way how many cups of buttercream are needed to crumb coat? They are fruit cake so need to fill. Thanks a lot!!!!

I'm not an expert, but I've been practicing with fondant to cover a 5-tier wedding cake. I definitiely think you'll need more than the 2 batches to cover all the cakes, especially if you want to use 1/4 inch thickness. I'm making the Wilton fondant (not the box! yuck! from scratch), and I'm using 6 batches just to cover the bottom tier, which is a 16" square.

As for the crumb coating, you should be able to crumb coat with 1-2 batches because it's such a thin layer. Again, I'm no expert, but I hope this helps a bit. Good luck! thumbs_up.gif
