I am wondering if you have left over cake batter can you freeze it and bake it later?

How long can you freeze it?

When you cooked it, did you have great results?

Thanks

I've never done it, but I would say no.. it's not recommended..
Because the way I see it. once you add liquid , that would activate whatever it that makes cake rise, and that has a certain amount of time that it would "perform"... icon_smile.gif

You can't freeze it and get a good result. You can freeze a frozen cake though!

i agree with prettycake. in fact, i would either make a sample cake with the extra batter (that way you know how the cake taste) or bake another cake and freeze.

I have put both a homemade and prepared cake mix in the fridge overnight and it was okay the next day. I think it cooks better letting it get to room temp first...but I have never frozen batter.

Thank you prettycake and lotsoftots. I figured that it would mess the cake up if I froze the batter, but I thought I would ask anyway. I usually just make a 6 inch cake or cup cakes with my extra batter and freeze those, but I was just curious. Thanks again.
