Can you gat a photo of the dog and print it off for the cake.

She actually wanted a sculpted cake but I don't think I have that kind of talent...yet. I do not have a picture of the dog either.

Those are really small dogs. How about making a dogbasket cake and forming a chihuahua out of fondant or marzipan and have him look out over the top of the basket. You could practice with play dough, before you commit to the cake. Some people carry them round in their purse, that might look cute too

My sister is nuts about her chihuahua. I was thinking of doing a chocolate mold to top her cake. There was someone on eBay selling a 3-D (fairly large) chihuahua chocolate mold. They sell lots of molds, so they probably still have it. I ended up doing something else, although I'm still reserving that idea for next year's cake.

you know ...judging by the pic provided by Claudine I would think that the 3-d lamb pan by wilton could be made to look like a dog...you'd have to sculpt the face out of fondant or something but that could be really cute.
