When molding fondant items such as cups, handles, etc, what does everyone use to dry them on? I have been playing with my MMF to make flowers & now want to try making cups, people, and my goal is replicate a Mother & Child's hands like I saw in the Mother's Day cake gallery. Not only am I not sure how to make the hands...still working on that...but I am not sure how to dry them without flattening sections.
TIA

I dry mine in the oven with just the light turned on and the door cracked open. Others set the oven to 200; when it reaches 200, they turn it off and put the items in the oven, close the door.
Hi there...You can stick a toothpick or skewer in an inconspicuous place and push it into some styrofoam to let it dry. That's what I did for my tassles (tassels?) on the pillow for my horse cake. The toothpicks come out pretty easily afterwards.
Alternately, you can "mold" a piece of parchment paper to the shape of the hand and just place the hand on it to dry. When I make bows, sometimes I use cotton balls to hold their shape until they set.
(edited for atrocious spelling )
I do both of the above. IF you have to get a shaped item. I use rolled up Viva papertowels to help support the shape. YOu could use just about anything to help with that. You can use a smooth bowl, etc. To get the shape. Just make sure to check it once in a while for release. I had one almost stick to a wooden cover once.
Good luck.
Thanks so much!! I am practicing the hands this weekend after I am done with my Easter orders.
