okay, this is a pricing question.......i finally came up with a price for my 1/2sheet cake and full sheet cake and am happy with the price, as are my customers, but i have an order for a cookie bouquet....which i love making also. they want a john deere theme so i will do the transfer and put tractors on the cookies and maybe some tractor tires, probably about a dozen cookies, varying in size........................what should i charge? i was thinking about charging the same as for my 1/2 cake, any thoughts????

If I were you I'd make one bouquet and time yourself. If the time you put into the bouquet is about the same as it would take you to do a 1/2 sheet cake, then that's probably a good price. Make sure you allow for the cost of the container that you put the cookie bouquet into also! Sounds like a really cute idea, BTW.

I do know the famous cookie place on the web charges $84.00 a dozen for their bouquet. And the little fence is 6.97 more.... Somtimes it takes longer to make many little things than 1 big one. I don't know what you charge for your 1/2 sheet cake.

How anyone would pay those prices is beyond me! I don't even think Martha Stewart would charge that much! LOL!!

WOW- those must be some pretty special cookies. Or at least they'd better be for that price!! If I ever pay that much for a dozen cookies I hope that someone will knock me upside the head to get some sense into me! LOL (disclaimer: no offense meant to anyone who has actually paid this much for cookies. You obviously have a better cash flow than I do.)

I do cookie bouquets and this is what I charge:
These are large cookies and come individually wrapped and in a nice container

6 cookies = $29.99
9 cookies = $39.99
12 cookies = $49.99

If your cookies are basic then I wouldn't charge this much but by the sounds of what you want to do it is going to take a lot of work. I would love to see your pics when you are done.
I am doing a mothers day bouquet next week and will post pics when I am done.

I think that we need to charge for what "we" are worth our time should not be free.......

I don't know if this will help much but when I do cookie bouquets I charge $25.00 for seven cookies. They are larger cookies and they are decorated. I usually find things to put them in that are cute but not too expensive so that it doesn't take up much of the profit. I know how you are feeling about the charging thing. I would do as suggested though and see if it takes you the same amount of time and don't forget to figure in your other expenses.

Oh, just thought I would add that I have tried one of those other cookies. I was driving by the store and couldn't stop myself!! I had to go in to try them. You can buy one for a dollar (not decorated) I didn't think they were all that great. Not bad, but not great. They are beautiful though. One of my customers received a bouquet from one of her customers and she told me that mine were much better which made me feel good!

Ok, I was looking around at prices and OMG , there are soo many variations on pricing. Some are way expensive and some are way cheap.
But keep several things in mind when pricing your cookie bouquet, the design (how complicated is the cookie), how it is arranged in the container, and what materials have you used in the arrangement.
You figure that the person might have to pay for labor twice, the labor to make the cookies and the labor involved in arranging the cookies. So your variables in your equation would be, labor involved for making cookies, cost of ingredients in making cookies, labor involved in the arrangement of the cookies, and cost of materials used in cookie arrangement.


Side note- When my was born (5 years ago), someone sent us a cookie arrangement instead of flowers. It was really nice, there were baby bottles and baby blocks in it, and they had his name and birth measurements iced onto the cookies. They were huge cookies, but they tasted pretty good and they were tastefully arranged. My husband and I really appreciated it.
