Does anyone own a Epson printer for edible images? I recently bought a C88 Epson printer and the edible ink from KopyKake. When I tried to put the cartridges into the printer, I get an error message stating that I need to use Epson ink cartridges. I have a big order coming up and had planned on doing edible images on the cakes. Can anyone help?

I also have an epson. I didnt have a problem with my cartridges until I tried to refill them. Dont. They will not work. Is there a way to tell the computer to ignore the error. If I remember right when I installed mine and put in the cartridges I just clicked ok when it said I had to use the right cartridges. Sorry I cant be of more help. Just wanted to warn you not to try to fill the cartridges, buy new ones every time.

The Epson OEM cartridges are chipped meaning they have a smart chip in them that tells when the cartridge is empty (based on # of prints) and when the cartridge you're using isn't Epson. The KK ones should still be recognized by the printer but you won't be able to refill them unless you have a chip resetter. That might help solve the problem you're having right now too.

Lisa,
Any idea where to get a chip resetter and are they worth getting or is it better to just use new cartridges every time?

I've been trying to speak to KK about the Epson chip for a while to see how it works and whether or not it functions the same way in the KK cartridges. I haven't made much progress so I'm making a few assumptions. I assume that the chip in the KK cartridges is the same as the Epson OEM one since if it wasn't, the printer wouldn't recognize it.

With that said, I think it is worth getting the chip resetter and not just to refill the cartridges. The chip doesn't actually know when your cartridges are empty. It's based on the number of prints. Your cartridges may still have enough ink in them to print many more edible images but you won't be able to use that ink unless you reset the chip. With the cost of ink and cartridges, I think the resetter would pay for itself over and over again. They run about $10 and you can find them at many online retailers and eBay.

I've contacted KK and they told me to take the chips from an Epson cartridge and put it onto my edible ink ones. Has anyone tried that? I really don't want to buy the cartridges and change them out if it doesn't work. Seems I've invested enough money into this already and it's frustrating that it's not as simple as it should be.

That will work. Do you still have the cartidges that came with the printer? I'd ask them to send you new edible ink cartridges before I'd purchase Epson OEM ones just for the chip. It's their responsibility to provide you with a product that works the way they say it should.

It's much more simple with a Canon and I know that doesn't help now but just for anyone who might be thinking of purchasing a printer for edible imaging.
