cut even diamonds or stripes for putting on a cake? I have a wedding cake in June, and the bride wants one tier covered in diamond cut outs, and one in stripes. Can I use the impression mat to put the pattern on the fondant, then use a pizza cutter to cut them out, or would you suggest a diferent way? Cookie cutters maybe for the diamonds instead? Thanks!
I would think a cookie cutter would be the easiest to cut out diamonds just because the whole pizza wheel thing would require a more steady hand and they probably wouldn't ALL be exact like they would with a cutter!
Thanks! After I thought about it, I know a cutter will be easier for the diamonds, just trying to decide how to do the stripes!
Wilton sells a ribbon cutter that you could use for the stripes...I've only used it once, but I think you may even be able to cut 2 stripes at the same time.
Is the ribbon cutter expensive? Funds are tight right now...the little boy I was babysitting started going to his aunt's yesterday. I know the impression mats are $2 on Earlene's sight, so I was trying to think cheap!
To cut stripes out of fondant, I just use a ruler (or other straight edge) and a pizza cutter.
Good luck to ya!
That's funny, luv2cake- we posted the same exact thing at the same exact time.
Great minds do think alike!
