I was baking several 9" and 10" rounds this week for a drumset cake I have due soon. I realized after the 3 & 4th layer that my 9" rounds are tapered and not perfectly straight on the sides. I can't stand this!!! My 10" rounds are fine for some reason but the 9" drive me crazy. Now I have to trim the cakes to make the sides straight.

Wilton's pans drive me crazy. I just bought a set of magic line square pans and what a load of difference between the two manufacturers. ML are so straight.

Yes, I noticed this with the Wilton 9" round pans long ago. That was right before I started investing in ML pans. I have not used my Wilton pans very often ever since.

Once I was turned on to the Magic Lines, I was simply amazed of the difference. I am slowly restocking all of my pans in Magic Line and then I am going to sell my Wilton ones. I wish I would of known this before I first invested in the Wilton ones!

okay, I love the Magic Line square pans for those beautiful straight edged corners... but as for the round pans, eh..
they often stick or dont cook firm on top the way I feel my old Wiltons do
I always prefer the look of the Wilton layer to the Magic Line one....
and I've learned to FLOUR and GREASE the ML pans...cant trust that
those corners wont stick..ugh

the wilton 9" pans are the only ones sold as a 2 pack and the only ones that have slanted sides. remember wilton is designed just for the home baker and many recipes call for 9" pans.

I baked a 12" cake layer for a wedding cake and when i went to cut it (it's a topsy turvey, I realized that the cake itself was only 11 1/2 inches. Checked the other layers and sure enough, everything is off by 1/2 inch. Does anyone else have this problem? They are Wilton pans. I don't have the 9" pans.

I am just now starting to buy pans. I am new to decorating. I will keep this in mind. I also never thought of the square corners.

My 9" pans are Farberware. I got 3 of them as a wedding present. Most of the rest of my pans are Wilton. I've never had a prob w/ my Farberware bakeware. If I had my druthers, all my pans would be Farberware or Nordicware - I like how heavy-duty the pans are.
