First off let me vent! OK I am getting a little irked here... I have tried to get this to go through now for about 30 mins...I get what I want down, add my picture and hit preview looks great and when I hit submit it doesnt go through...something about server...I know its not CCs problem its the connection we have here...and its raining so its worse... anyway one more time! (I will copy this this time in case it happens again!)

OK onto important things.... as most of you already know, the base we are at is closing its doors after 60 years..because of this reason the school on base (of course closing too) is making teacher appreciation day into a full week... parent were asked for volunteers, donaters etc... I of course wanted to help since I did it on my own the last 3 years for only my two sons teachers and a few I am acquainted with... anyway, the cake I am going to do for one day will be of the bases logo
"mission accomplished" see the picture below, its the tshirt they gave all the students!!!! But thats just one day... I will make cookies one day, brownies another, candy another, and cupcakes for the last day.... thats where you come in..
I would love to make individual apple shaped cakes...kind of like the Easter egg cakes that I posted that was done for my sons class...
I do not have an apple cupcake pan... but I do have the egg pan... should I cut an apple shape out of them or just decorate each egg with an apple on top.... there are like 45 teachers... the office told me today 42... ok ladies I am turning the mic over to you!

Hey, Flayv. Our appreciation week is starting on May 2. I haven't the faintest idea of what I am going to do. Hopefully I will come up with something. I love the idea of the logo that you have. I am sure that you will come up with something fantastic!!

I should also say, that I think if you have the time maybe you could try cutting out the apple shapes from the egg cakes. But otherwise, maybe you should just put apple designs on top. Sorry, I can't be more help to you!!

Isn't that something? I was thinking of doing my son's school logo, too. But it seems from what I was reading, that his school wants it to be a more individual teacher thing, except for the breakfast day. So now I will have to sniff out something specific to her. I know that she likes music, she is teaching some of them the recorder right now, my son included. I will have to think fast!!! icon_confused.gif

OK I unknowingly...or should I say I forgottenly forgot (I know no such word) that I have one single apple shaped baker like this one here on ebay...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1044&item=7317513436&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

trust me the price is too high, it fits in your cupped hand... anyway,
my question Now I wonder how long each would have to bake... I would be willing to bake one at a time...no problem... so I guess I can use this.... any ideas from anyone else???

What about if you used a regular cupcake and then put a marzipan or gum paste apple on top? I'm thinking that a) it would be easier than trying to cut an apple out of the egg pan (I'm not very good at carving, though). and b) you could make the apples in advance and save yourself some time in what appears to be a VERY busy baking week for you!

I'm sure no matter what you decide--it's going to be wonderful and very much appreciated!

Or if you have a small heart, cut the point off of the heart with an indent, just add a stem (can be made with the part you cut off) Do you see it??

Flavy, could you just make your regular cupcakes, and with a heart cookie cutter do MMF and trim the hearts as Peg18 suggested to make the apple? This would be less expensive than buying a new pan(s) and you could do the fondant cutouts ahead of time.

like you helped me with the bubblegum buddies.

to make the heart shaped cupcakes, you can use a small ball of aluminum foil in the tins to indent the top of the cupcake and then the bottom will not be pointed and you can add the stem at the top...

go here to see what i mean.. and then you can make as many apples as you wish...

hope i have been as helpful as you are...

Hi Flayv,
I thought apple cupcakes might be quicker than baking each cake alone. It seemas like you will be baking all week to begin with so I don't think you'll want to be doing apples 1at a time.
Even maybe a cupcake cake as one big apple to be pulled appart.
I have attached a picture of a heart cc & an apple
Good Luck

you can also use gummy candy as the stems.. roll out with your rolling pin and then cut into strips..

it is already green and shimmery from the sugar

Wow, I can't believe that base is closing!!! I grew up on Sembach, Ramstien Spangdahlem and Bitburg AFBs and am just blown away that RM is closing! Do you have orders to come back to the US? Oh, and tell your dh thanks for his service!!!

I ditto the ball of foil in the cup cake tin, and maybe cut out an apple shape with mmf...

God's Blessings, Shawn <><

hmmm.... and to think I am in the land of gummies....
dont know if you all know this but where I am is the home of those wonderful gummy bears... the ones you get in the states taste great but there is a little bit of a difference with the ones here.... these have lots of taste....
when you said gummis I thought about getting those gummi worms and having them stick out of the apple! whatcha think? yes or no

I ALSO SAY YES TO THE WORMS. GO WITH THE CUPCAKES AND DECORATE THEM TO LOOK LIKE APPLES. IT WILL BE MUCH EASIER IN THE LONG RUN INSTEAD OF DOING EACH APPLE ONE BY ONE. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BAKING!

definitely go with the worms.. they would be tooooo cute.

you could probably lay some around the apples (cupcakes) if you did not want to give all the individual ones worms...

Just another thought, you could always use apple flavored gum to shape little apples to go on top of each cup cake as well.

Just wanted to throw that out there.
