I was wondering if my town was the only one on the face of the earth that does not carry Americolor any where??? icon_confused.gif I just got an order 2 days ago for a police badge cake and I wanted to get the Americolor navy blue and black. I've called all 4 stores in the metro area and only ONE of them carries the electric colors, gold and red. No such luck with the navy or black icon_mad.gif If the cake wasn't due in a few days, I'd place an order online for it.

Just wondering if anyone out there has run in to the same problem? Thanks for listening to me vent icon_biggrin.gif

I live in the third largest city in my state, and nobody here carries it either. I order it from CC. Their price is the best retail price I have found.

No one around my area carries it. My husband is a pilot and travels to Dallas a lot and there is a store there that I send him to for it. He just loves it when I ask him to go to the cake stores for me! lol

I was just in my cake store (Evansville IN) last week and she has started carrying ALL the colors! I had just made a HUGE order from CC that week too! I was soooo happy! I was doing a Spongebob Cake for a friend's daughter and had never used the Black. Okay, ladies and gents.....BEST BLACK EVER!!!! I'm hooked!

what you need to do is pick a cake dec. store that you really like and get to know the people develop a repore (sp?) and I assure you once they realize you're going to be a regular....they will carry anything that they know you will eventually buy!! I live in a teeny tiny town and the ONLY cake decorating (really a cake, candy, and party supply store) anywhere near me carries gumpaste mix (not wilton bleck) and americolor gels and now luster dust all because I asked them a couple of times if they had it or knew if they ever would have it. Most people are happy to oblige and carry the stuff if you just ask!!1 It saves me the shipping costs and having to have EVERY item I need on hand at all times and they know when they're ordering the stuff that I'm going to buy it eventually...so it's a win win situation!!! I'm the only one anywhere around here that does fondant figures and anything with gumpaste......the lady that owns the store actually sells cakes too but she doesn't view me as a threat, she mostly does edible image stuff so she even took my number and offered to pass along business to me if she's too busy or if they want a more elaborate cake than she can offer..........building a relationship with the cake store people can be a great advantage to both of you!

That's a good idea, KHalstead! I am pretty friendly when I go to the supply store nearest my home. I'll just have to put on the extra charm! icon_lol.gif

Until then, CC is going to be getting a lot more business from me!

I live in a small town and recently stumbled into a VERY small deco shop. They have a few Americolor products and even some CK products. I was astonished! Much to my delight they can order anything from either company. With CK they have a min. dollar amount before they can order. I read on CK's website that all a business has to do is provide their buisness phone number and license (basically prove that they are a business) to order from them. My thinking is that any shop would be willing to order the products for you because you know they will profit! Besides, if you are seeking them, you are probably not alone!

I'm fortunate...I have a cake shop -a bit of a drive- that seems to ONLY carry Americolor, yet there is a closer cake shop and when I asked why they stocked so little of the Americolor, the reply given was simply that so many people are only familiar w/ the Wilton brand, and aren't as familiar w/ the Americolor brand.

Which store do you send him to? I have only found 2 stores here and one is over priced and small (Elizabeth's) and I haven't been to the other, they don't have much online (Cake Carousel).

I have to say a BIG thank you to gilpnh for sending some with her mom the "Americolor Trafficer" on her way to St. Louis!

You guys are awesome! CC always comes through for me in one way or another!

Newlywedws - I finally asked one of the cake stores why they don't carry Americolor, and I got the same answer as you did - "fairly new product and we're not familiar with it." She also said you get less for your money, and I kept thinking "yes, but you use LESS of it to color your icing than the pastes!"
