Cornelli Lace Not Sticking To Cake

Just finished the whole layer that had cornelli lace. I realize now that the icing was probably too stiff, I never thinned it. It kept breaking as I was piping but I was able to keep connecting it and it looked pretty good. Well, after I was all done I noticed in a few spots that it was just sitting on the cake and not adhered at all. If I touch it I can easily break it off.
I probably should have added some corn syrup or something but it's too late for that now. Do you think it will stay on or should I take all of it off and start over (2 hours later). I don't want pieces of it falling off tomorrow in the car.

Tough one kiddo! I guess I would be tempted to re-do it if there are several spots like that and you are worried about the car ride over. Think you have to weigh if it is worth worrying about?

I agree, if it is really stiff and breaking it will only get worse. I use a small tip 1 or 2 and thin icing and it works great. Do you have a strong base so the cake will not bend or crack! If so you MAY be OK.
