Just wondering where you all buy your cake boxes? I'm always looking for the best price for things. I've been getting mine at Michael's, but with an avg. of two cakes a week I'm going through them rather quickly. Any ideas?

The prices are pretty reasonable.

Has anyone ordered boxes from Sugarcraft? I do not make enough cakes to justify buying a case of all one size the way Papermart sells them. The prices on Sugarcraft seem good but I was wondering about the quality. Are most all cake boxes created equal?

I get mine according to where I'm at when I'm out. I pick them up at Michaels sometimes to. We have Krogers grocery stores here, and the one closest to me won't sell boxes! But one of my sister-in-laws worked at another Krogers for years, so I can get them at that one for FREE but it's on the other side of town icon_cry.gif . So what I did one day was went to a doughnut shop that is right down the street from me because I needed a box that day and I thought, hmmm, the boxes that a dozen doughnuts come in might be the right size (for a 1/4 sheet cake), and sure enough, it fit in it better then the one's I had been getting at Michaels!! So that's where I've been getting them for that size, this shop doesn't have anything larger, to bad because they hardly charge me a thing for the boxes!!! One person might charge me 40 cents, and another charges me a quarter lol!! So if you have any doughnut shops nearby, it might be worth checking into to see if they will sell them to you and what size boxes they have! thumbs_up.gif

I order mine form Sugarcraft...and you dont hae to buy them in a big case, I buy mine in sets of 3, I only ordered the 11x15's and the square ones for round cakes, I cant remember the measurement on that one and they are rather cheap, the best way to go in my opinion!!

I know that grocery store bakeries will sometimes give away boxes if you ask. Our local wal-mart will give the plastic domed ones away but NOT the boxes as it has their logo on it. (My son's sm works at wm bakery and hooks me up) But the other grocery stores will usually charge. Check it out maybe you'll get them for free. I like cakesbgood idea too w/the bakery. I only have a bakery in the next town and I never think to go there. Good luck!! Here's an idea for you too for traveling w/cakes.. walmart has 28quart sterilite plastic boxes for 4.00 and they are like 5 1/2inch high and come w/a lid so these are AWESOME carrying containers and will hold the 12x18x2inch cakes w/no problems. Ok just thought I'd let you know.

Does anyone else use the 2 piece boxes? They are corrugated. I make a lot of full sheet cakes and use these as they are very sturdy. I buy them at my local cake store but would like to buy in quantity as they would be cheaper.

Instawares and ebay has pink cake boxes. On ebay you can get a case for about $30. Or at least that was the price when I bought mine.

I order mine in bulk from Cincinnati Cake and Candy supply. They're the cheapest I've found on line (and much less than our local cake stores). If you order over $100 - it's free shipping and no tax either.

Great thread...I was wondering this too. I went to my local grocery store and they charged me $3.00 for the plastic dome ones. I ususally go to Michaels too! I will be checking out these websites.
