I have a recipe I like but I cant seem to keep it from sticking to computer paper. Any one have a recipe they like that works for them with this method. Looking for more than one recipe I guess so I can try to compare them to mine and come up with a compromise. Any one try the faux fondant one with it?

Bump myself. I have 3 cakes to do in the next few weeks and would like to practice before the due date.

Sorry, but I'm not quite sure what you mean about the icing sticking to computer paper. Do you mean you have a problem when trying position an edible image onto your cake?

Wow, what a nice cake. I hadn't heard of using a sheet of computer paper for smoothing icing. I have used Viva and I have heard of people using parchment paper. I learn something new every day on here! icon_surprised.gif

I have used the faux fondant & it works great when smoothing with computer paper or a viva. I personally use my fondant smoother & a viva.

You have to wait longer before you use the typing paper. It is a finishing touch and the icing should be crusted well.

I will be trying to wait for sure. One question, would using a cake that had previously been frozen, but now thawded make any difference?

well if there is condensation then it would need to sit until the moisture disappears

I always start with viva or just smooth with a spatuala. Depends how the icing is reacting. Once the cake crusts but not too hard I use the computer paper. Sometimes I spin the cake while using the paper and it smooths it like a clay pot. It works well.
