Does anyone have a shortbread cookie recipe that is tried and true that you would share. I was at my local Food City yesterday and went by the bakery and they had some shaped like flowers that were soooo cute and frosted in spring colors. TIAicon_smile.gif

I have not tried any shortbread recipes however you can check out the Joy of baking website. Their recipes are usually pretty good. Here is a link for one of their shortbread recipes.

Hope this helps:

This is the one that came with my shortbread pan. I've used it for years. I don't know how this would work without a shortbread pan, but you can try it.

3/4 cup butter (room temp.)
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour

preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease pan.

Cream butter until it's light. Cream in powdered sugar, then the vanilla. Finally work in the flour. Knead dough on an unfloured board until smooth. Firmly press dough into pan, so that it comes up below the rope detail. Prick the surface with a fork, and bake for 30-35 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool in pan for about 10 minutes. Loosen the edges with a plastic knife and invert onto cutting board. Cut into serving pieces while warm.
