Is buttercream strong enough to hold some mmf pearls to the side of a cake once it has crusted over?

I went and got my cake drum and now both cakes are iced and crusted. I'm getting ready to do some of the designs with buttercream and wonder if it will dry hard enough to hold some pearls in place on the side of the cake if I put a dab of fresh bc behind each pearl, or do I have to mix up something else, like royal or something?

Also, doing a pearl border around the cake board (which is a flat surface). Will the bc hold them there as well? I have to drive 1/2 hour with this thing tomorrow and don't want pearls rolling around my car!

Thanks!

I've used both royal and buttercream to hold pearls and both have worked just fine - good luck!
