Hey, everyone,
Failed to add a pic to my favorites and now can't find it again I wanted to ask whoever made it about how they made the tops of their gift box square cakes. I think she said she used panels of fondant, but I was wondering how they were attached at the top to look like part of a seamless whole.
Thanks, and from now on, I solemnly promise to use the favorites link

Hi there!
Here's a box cake by sugarshack. http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&meta=allby&uname=sugarshack&cat=0&pos=22
Hope this helps!
thank you thank you thank you! I think the one I saw was different colors, but that's exactly the technique I wanted. And I promise, I saved it this time
Wonder if it would work in white chocolate, too?
Just make sure that the white chocolate is tempered so that it will firm up nice. And also take note that chocolate has a tendency to curl up as it hardens. So the way I would do it is spread the chocolate to a thin layer on to a parchment paper on a cookie sheet, let it set a bit (but not too hard), cut up my shapes ( a template would be helpful), put another piece of parchment on top of the chocolate then place something heavy like another cookie sheet on top. Then place it in the fridge. This will keep the chocolate flat. And also another tip is use surgical gloves when working with chocolate, not only that it keeps your hands clean but it also prevents any fingerprints on the chocolate.
Show us a picture when your done!
Thank you, didi5, you probably just saved me hours and dollars of heartache. I'll definitely post the results, either here or in the disasters section
