Does anyone know what I need to do or don't need to do to sell cakes out of my home in Arkansas without getting myself in trouble? Thanks for the info.
Check with your county health department. It differs with in a state so you have to go through your county health department. All are different. Mine said that you could sell out of your house w/out a lincense if you do not pay for an add, so cards, flyers, etc are ok...
I have read other threads of people from other areas that say in their county that is a big no!
as this has been asked before all I can say hon is check into your states law.... some states can careless if you do a few and others will have a total fit.... I am sure someone here will be able to help you!
Check with your Dept. of Agriculture as well. That is where our legisation (legalization) is in NC.

ok, thank goodness for you, ncdessertdiva! I've checked out the nc dep of ag website, and all I can find tells me that NC is *most definitely* against the entire notion of selling *anything* prepared at home. Is that your understanding? We just moved here last fall, and I just started decorating cakes, so I'm trying to figure out whether or not I can sell them legally at all.
If I'm reading that correctly, do you know if it would then be possible to sell cakes if I rented commercial kitchen space instead? Not sure that's something I can do right now, but I'd like to know what's even possible.
Thanks so much!
