I've never tried but I would think it would just crack once you try to remove it.

I don't think this would work. Even if you used a flexible silicone mold the royal would still crack. What is you are trying to do?

Thanks, I thought about that but I thought maybe there was a way to get around that.

I am trying to get away from having to write on my cakes. My writing is TERRIBLE!!!
I have molds with words so I thought maybe there was some way to do it.

When I do royal Icing flowers our teacher had us lightly grease the foil the flowers were formed on with solid shortning. I myself would try this with the candy molds . Then they would just drop out. or drop them out when not dryed onto wax paper. Hmm icon_rolleyes.gif Im going to have to try this now. The possibiltys are endless if it works. icon_biggrin.gif

I think I've read you can add glycerin to royal icing to soften it. Is that right?

You could always get word or letter stamps. Wilton has a message press where you put together the letters and make up your own words.

My writing stinks too, so for my last cake I printed the wording out on my printer (with extra space between the letters), taped that page to the table and then taped a piece of waxed paper over it and traced the letters. Ended up looking great and the letters came right off the paper when dry with very little breakage. (Although I did an extra set to be sure).
