Which was completed in a sleep deprived haze. I SO had big plans for this cake but with Sarah being so sick--I just couldn't do it.

I ended up doing an edible image instead of a bct that I had originally planned. I don't really like how it turned out but the little girl was thrilled with it and the mom said that everyone at the party was raving about how wonderful the cake tasted (that's the important part, right?)

They did say that they thought the bc was "too sweet" but come on--it's icing--there is only so much you can do to not make it "sweet". I used Dawn's recipe and my mom, family and neighbors were absolutely LOVING it! (I tested it on them before putting it on the cake.) So, I guess that icing is just one of those things that you can't please everyone everytime.

Also--it was my first time using the icer tip and I had a bit of a difficult time with it. I just need to practice getting the pressure and speed more even. I had a hard time smoothing it. I have since purchased some Viva and plan on trying again using that as the smoothing method.

Thanks for looking!

It came out great! I love the colors and the border. The edible image looks great too. I can see why she was thrilled. The icer tip does take a little practice but before you know it, you'll be piping perfect strips of smooth icing.

I'm surprised they thought the icing was too sweet too. Did you use salted butter? I think salt can sometimes make icing taste sweeter.

Very pretty! I love the mixture of colors. It brings out the colors in the edible image.

Great job!

You know--I did. I never even thought about using unsalted. I'm going to try that the next time.

I, personally, LOVED the stuff. It falls into the category of something I could never keep around because I would eat it! lol!!

Thanks for the suggestion.

I think that you did a terrifc job! I love all the vibrant colors. And it really does bring out the edible image. BTW, I also LOVE Cali's BC. It is to die for. I have 3 tubs of it in the fridge. I sneak a little taste about 3 times a day!! icon_wink.gif Naughty, naughty, I know. But is is soooooooo good!!!!!
