Hi EVERYONE!
I've been cruising this site for the last couple of days and not really finding much to read concerning cakes under the "GENERAL" section. It seems like there is a lot of talk about Avatars lately and that is most peoples main concern right now. I'm sorry if I step on ANY toes here, please forgive me. I just love reading about and hearing encouraging, discouraged and general questions about cakes. I love to help where I can and get help when I can. This site has been my lifesaver! So I was thinking could there maybe be an Avatar section In the Forum. I would also like to do a poll on if there has been to much chatter about the Avatars. I know people like to personalize themselves and have their own Identity (I have my own thanks to Flavurdfun) but this site is about cakes right? And since I'm on my path can you all please please please put your cakes under the right catagories in the cake gallery.

Well, if you really want to categorize, I think this post should be under "Suggestions"!

I do, however, agree about the avatars, they seem to have become high priority lately and probably should have their own section. I think mainly this attention is because we have a lot of new folks coming in... but there is still plenty to read about the cakes, decorating, problems, etc. I do think there also may be a surplus of "thank you" messages without any other content.

Escuse me too, if I step on toes. Janice

Don't be sorry and you are correct. I should have put this under suggestions...just another prime example of not catagorizing. Thank you for setting that straight. That is the purpose of this to see if there should be a section for avatars. I know we have a lot of new people here and that would have to do with it being such a great site and there being so many wonderful people here with their ideas and creativity. And I am aware of the surplus of Thanks given out, I have given mine out as well!
Thank you for posting to this

Hi tcrema I moved this into the Suggestions forum, but also left a link back in the general forum for people to see.

Hey, if we weren't trying to improve, we wouldn't be here in the first place, so our stories, problems suggestions, and even constructive criticisms are important...we can't sugarcoat everything (sorry about the pun!)

This has to be one of the most informative, helpful groups of people I've ever come across, and I really wouldn't want to do anything to change that!

I think there is more to life then just cakes and sometimes you need to chat about other things... Other wise I think the site would be quite boring if that was all that was talked about... YOUR right people want to show who they are and there are many ways to do this, this just happens to be one of them.... Maybe there should be an off topics area that way if its not anything to do with cakes they can post it in there and that way for people that done want to read anything but cakes they dont have to go in to that area, maybe that will help with something like this...

I dont think that this needs a special area its general most of the time you can tell by a subject what the post is going to be able so if its not something to do with cakes you dont have to open the post they are really good about posting in the subject what there going on about...

I have to agree with everyone here.... I think it will be easier to find those asking for avatars, certain posts if they were under a certain area... I know between the PM's for avatars and posts its been hard to keep up with them, even with three of us doing it.... this will make it easier to find people wanting things... as for a "not cake related" forum I can see that too.... I have no questions right now concerning cake making, but sure do love to go and look and read posts to see if I can throw my two cents in....and if there isnt it would be nice to go to another area that would be available to see if someone is having problems with something else, or just trying to get to know people... so
WAY TO GO ALL OF YOU, you hit the nail on the head.

And the other thing to rememeber is that as time goes on and people get to know each other from the site there is going to be other things then just cake related questions... its like a family here there is going to be all kinds of things...

But like I said before maybe there should be an off topics area and that way people can post in there things that done have to do with cakes and for those that done want to read anything but cakes they would not have to worry about something in there not being cake related...

I think the idea of an off-topic area is great! It's fun to get off-topic sometimes. Being that this is a forum and the avatars express a little something about who we are, they're an important part of this site. I prefer to keep the discussions within PMs but it doesn't bother me to see them posted.

This is the best site I've found since I dumped aol and thus lost my friends in the mom's chat. Often times when there's a lot of extra thank you's, which I don't believe there can be too much of, it's after a cake disaster and someone needs lifting up and encouragement. Let's not forget that everyone here doesn't know all the ins and outs of making/changing avatars etc, and there will always be repeat questions. I'm trying to get aquainted here too and I think cutting out the small talk would make it pretty boring.

If there's to be an avatar section someone, please, needs to post instructions on how to work with them, for those of us who don't know what to do once we follow a link to a site posted. It can be pretty mind boggling. I finally gave up.

Ok please don't get me wrong. I love the small talk, love the other topics, and love learning about each other. I understand that there are new people comming in constantly and the questions about the avatars will arise. That is why I was thinking maybe there should be a special place for it. I wasn't saying that I wasn't wanting to read about them but it just seemed like over the last couple of days that is what they were all about. Flavurdfun pm'd me and said she had one for me and I was extremely grateful that she would take time out of her busy day to think about me...especially without me asking! I totally love the idea of an Off the Topic area. I think it is a great idea and better way to get to know one another as well. You all have wonderful ideas and I agree with you Victoria about it being like a family...that is exactly what it is here.
