Cake size for 20-25 people

I still don't know how to figure out how big to make cakes with respect to the amount of people.

I was asked to make a circle cake for 20-25 people. How big should the cake be? How do I figure out the size?

Thanks!! icon_biggrin.gif

chart....

http://www.wilton.com/cake/cakeprep/baking/times/party_2inch.cfm
with their's 9 inch round (tho I think that's small and would do at least a 10)

there is NO agreed upon consensus.

it all comes down to how big a chunk of cake you serve.

wilton figures its 4 inches tall (height of tier) x 2 inches (depth) and 1 1/2 inch thick.

I would do a 10" round myself, about 4" tall after being torted and filled.

me too on the 10" cake. that's the size we used at daugher's baby shower. we had about 15-18 people and had just a little left over. It was the perfect size. (I cut them wedding cake size, because I set up a buffet, too. Plus cutting them wedding cake size is just an old habit! icon_redface.gif )

I think is better to use the 12" cake pan, so you will have enough cake and some leftovers. if it is for a birthday party, if it is for a wedding you can use the 11" x 4" . Grace

I'd have to agree with the 10" x 3".

The girl requested a circle cake so I'm gonna have to go for a 10" or 12". I'll run the prices by her and the rest is for her to decide!
