I'd like to be part of this group too! I won't be able to contribute the first month or two as I've been feeling poorly this past month - will be having major surgery next week. I love baking cookies as much as my family loves eating them - though I seldom get to the decorating stage.
This is a great Idea. I'm in. I found a good website for cookie cutters. Its www.cookiecutter.com for those of you who don't have easy access to stores that sell good ones. I ordered some on Tuesday and they arrived on Friday. I can't wait to hear the months theme! I have 1/2 a batch of the No Fail Sugar Cookie dough in my fridge, i guess i'll save it for the theme!
I am a newbie here but this sounds like a lot of fun. I would love to try it!

1) Let's use a vote to pick the themes we want to do, but make them broad like: Spring/Weddings/Flowers/Hearts/Animals/Gingerbread Houses. Any means of decorating should be possible, whether you do fondant, royal icing, glaze, etc.
2) The cookies should have never been posted before. We should all have to make new ones just for this! That would mean we've all had the same amount of time to create them.

Just so I understand, is this going to truly be a contest where there is a winner? If so, other than the first month which cake princess should choose the theme for, how about the winner each month is allowed to pick the next theme? By the way, I think that all pics should be new so that all us newbies will have a fair chance against all you a-gamers!!!!!!!!!!

I have a suggestion for theme part...
Perhaps we could always choose an upcoming holiday/event. That way we will be sure to get our creative thoughts flowing before the last minute. most people start thinking about buying a month or so in advance. Like April we could do mother's day. Then May weddings or father's day etc. i just thought that way we would also get something practical out of the practice.
I also thought the themes could concentrate on one medium sometimes. one month Fondant, the next month royal, then glace, etc. Also to improve the skill and get the creative ideas rolling in.
I also agree that the pic should be new....

It's not going to be a contest. I was thinking more along the lines of having A broad theme and letting everyone go at it. Then we can sit back and marvel at how everyone interprets and depicts the theme in their work.
The thing about focusing on one particular medium is, some people may not be at that skill level as yet where they may feel comfortable. So by allowing people to work with which ever medium they want to it kind of levels the playing field a bit. This way people are not feeling intimidated or left out.
The reason I wanted to know how you guys felt about the pics is because I know some people get upset when people post cake pics they have previously displayed on the site in the contest. So I am trying to avoid any negativity or bad blood with our little project here. So I guess we will go with the new pic rule if that's what the group wants.

If the majority does not object to the idea then the Theme will be Spring/April Showers.

I'm out for April but I'd love to have a go after that. Keep saying I'm going to have a go at making these cookies, but never get round to it, now that my Sugarcraft Classes are finishing up, I will have time and this will give me motivation!

Sounds like a lot of fun to me! I'm for the monthly contest. Gives me a chance to think about it for a couple of days, then get motivated, then bake and finally decorate.

I think everything sounds great so far, and am excited that so many people are going to participate!
Just a thought about posting the pictures when they're finished - I wonder if we could get a thread "stickied" to stay on top, that would be ONLY for posting the pictures, not for discussions, and that would make it very easy to see the cookies that everybody makes without having to read through lots of posts to find them.
Maybe we could post the picture in the thread, along with a link to the picture in the photo gallery, so it would be easy to see them, and click on the link to leave comments?

Possible theme for April if the majority of the group does not have an issue with it is :
Spring / April Showers...
This way we have something to work on for this month. Then we can vote on a theme for next month later on in this month.
If by tomorrow there are no major objections then it will be April's official theme
I have to leave for gumpaste class but I will post later.
