Torting Wilton's Wondermold Cake?

has anyone ever torted and filled the wondermold cake. i think it's also called a dolly varden? mold. i kind of wanted to, but not sure. it's a hard cake to cut as it is. will torting and filling it just cause a mess? thanks

I tried it years ago, yes it was a big mess! However, I have filled one before.
When your cake has cooled, remove the cake from pan, dust the pan with powdered sugar then repalce the cake. Freeze in pan for 1-2 hours. Remove from pan and cut a 1 inch layer from bottom, set aside. Turn cake upside down and hollow out a center, making sure to leave a 2 inch rim. Fill with mousse or custard or even softened ice cream(I would not use fruit unless you are serving in quick) as desired, then ice the top rim and place your layer on top, press down to seal.
Chill until set, then ice and decorate. Hope this helps

Yes, I have done it and it was not hard to do at all. Flip it over so the wide side is down and torte as you normally would. I used toothpicks so I would remember which way to line it all up again.

I do it all the time. When I go to fill it I make sure I have an ample dam and I have never had a problem.
