Cut-Out Cakes

Hi everyone

I'm looking for cut-out cakes. For instance, if you baked two 8x8 round cakes and cut certain shapes on one cake you could create a unbralla or something else. Then all you need to do is frost it appropriately. I am looking for a book, pamphlet or web site that would show different cut-outs. If you have any information it would be greatly apprecated.

I'm actually looking for some cat cake ideas. I'd prefer not to buy a character cake pan. I'd love to hear other people's ideas.

And here is someone's suggestion from the Wilton site:

"You could use a 10" round cut in half for the body, and a 6 inch round for the face. Cut triangles from the second half of the 10" for ears and a curved piece for the tail. Hope the suggestion helps. "


My question is, would the half body be the side view of the cat or the front view of the cat (Just chest and front legs) icon_confused.gif

HI! Any luck finding your sources????

I was at the library yesterday just sifting through the cookbook section when my eyes landed on this book. I thought of you and brought it home.

I don't know if you can purchase this book any longer, but I'm sure you can find it at your local library.

Easy Cut-Up Party Cakes

published by Kraft General Foods 1993.

There are 40 different cakes included in the book and a few recipes and party tips.

A few Cut-Ups that caught my eye:

Raggedy Ann Doll
Firecracker (individual servings- great idea on the Fourth!)
Witch
Turkey
Reindeer

Elephant
3-D mouse
A dog that could easily be converted to a make a great Snoopy
2-D Football
Daisy (that would be make a great "Flower Power" statement)
3-D Baby booties (individual servings- too cool!)
