I am sooo excited, this cake came out better than expected!! icon_biggrin.gif This is my second attempt at mmf fondant and i tried it with my son's b-day cake. (This one was for his party at home) Luckily I was thinking on this cake and started it 3days early. I ended up getting a sinus infection, I had to work my regular job PLUS my son ended up fracturing (sp?) his little finger last night!! icon_cry.gif I know it's not perfect, but for my second attempt I am totally excited. I'm emailing the pic to all of my friends!!! Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated!!! I just love this site!!! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

that is really awesome. I think I am gonna do a gameboy for my son's birthday this year.

I can't wait to work well with MMF. I did pretty good with Wiltons but hate the taste and smell.

Great job!

Your cake looks wonderful! I have done one in black and yours looks so much better! It grabs your attention with the colour. Your detail is terrific! It can be hard to get the speaker holes just right, not too deep and not too shallow and not pulling the fondant!
Well done! You should be very proud, especially if it's your 2nd fondant one! cool! thumbs_up.gif

Hello. I am new to this site & still have a lot of exploring & reading to do. But this really caught my attention. What is MMF(F is fondant right?)? I also read here that this tastes better than Wilton fondant. That is the exact reason I do not ever use fondant! I would like to experiment with it if I can find out what the experts use! Thanks in advance.

MMF is: marshmallow fondant and is AWESOME!!!! icon_biggrin.gif It's mini marshmallows, 10x sugar and some crisco. It's very sugar tasting don't get me wrong, however, the Wilton frosting is eeewwww yucky!! icon_mad.gif It's very expensive and for the money you spend you have people taking it off the cake and throwing it away icon_cry.gif . So not happening! The mmf takes MAYBE $5.00 in supplies and is super easy to make. There is a wonderful recipe onsite here on how to make it, JUST remember you really need to use the name brand items due to the fact the 10x sugar has been sifted the proper amount of times and the marshmallows have to be a proper consistancy. One useful tip that I do is, when I'm melting the marshmallows in the mircowave I start w/the defrost button and when they start to melt I move my button between low/medium. They seem to melt "better??" this way to me. Good Luck, you'll have lots of fun!!

bodaisy...your cake is great!! Thanks for the microwave tip for the mmf. I'm so excited to perfect this technique...I love the look of fondant, but hate the taste of Wilton's. My first attempt at mmf was this morning and it came out a little dry and clumpy, but I don't feel bad trying again because of how inexpensive it is!!
I am new to this site and absolutely love it!!! Everyone is so helpful...I think I'm addicted! icon_biggrin.gif

I'm addicted too!!! icon_biggrin.gif Another thing that I do, when the mmf feels dry I'll run a little water in my hand then rub my hands together and start kneading again. It helps to moisten the mmf just a little at a time. Or I'll start w/a tbl of water then the hand thing. Moisture is the key (as we all know) the water in the hands seems to work really great for me. Good luck!!!! icon_smile.gif
