Hi, Dawn(that's my first name too),

I like the names you're considering. Here are a couple more for thought:

Dawn's Darn Sweet Creations

Dawn's Delicious Delights

Perhaps not mind-blowingly witty but cute, lol.

Good luck!

Is MO for Missouri? (I'm bad with state abbreviations)

Missouri Dawn

HOw about this byline for whatever name you choose: Bringing the beauty of Dawn to your cakes.

How about a play on the US national anthem...

"Dawn's Cake Delights"

"Dawn's Early Rise"

(like the line "By the dawn's early light")? icon_lol.gif

Oh, Yeah.

I really like any of them. Just choose a name that doesn't lead people to think you make some things you don't.
Delicasies might make people think of odd-ball foods.
Now maybe Dawn's Sweet Delicasies might work better.

What fun picking a name can be!! icon_smile.gif

No, I don't think that Dawn's Delicious Delights is too long.
I keep thinking of a logo with all the D's done in buttercream in some lovely script.

It looks like you have a lot of great ideas here.

My two cents here - when it comes to narrowing down a name, practice introducing yourself and your business out loud as if you were meeting a potential customer for the first time and see if you like how it rings.

Also, I learned this from my marketing genius boyfriend, you are going to see your business name a million times, so make sure you like how it looks (you know how sometimes you look at a word long enough and it starts to look weird?). Try typing it out in all kinds of fonts, you may find that there are certain letters that you like more than others and you can go from there.

If you plan on creating a website, you may want to see if a domain is available for the name you are planning, you may decide to change the name based on if you want a .com, .biz and make sure that it is something easy enough that if you are out somewhere talking to someone about your cakes and for some reason do not have a business card handy, that they can remember your business name and/or website.

Whatever you decide on will be the best choice for you and your business as long as you love it and it makes you smile. Potential customers will feel your passion for cake art if you can introduce even your cake business with enjoyment. I hope this helps. icon_smile.gif

I like your Creative Cakes also.
Sweet sensations
Dawn's sweet retreat
Dawn's sweet Treats

When I saw your Simply Scrumptious, I was reminded of Truly Scrumptious from Chitty-Chitty, bang-Bang. Not a bad name for a bakery, either!!!

Please let us know what you decide. I like hearing the different names people have for their businesses.

Another tip when choosing a name. You want to try and choose a name that starts with the beginning letters of the alphabet. Reason being, your name will be the first in the list of names in the yellow pages of the phone book.

Quite often websites and anywhere you will go for advertising that uses lists, goes in alphabetical order.

What about shortening it even further to "Dawn's Delights"?
I love the 2 word business names, they just seem to be easier to remember!

I am in Washington, on the Pacific Coast. My hobbies are golf, and cooking. I'm attending culinary school (Baking & Pastry).
My plan is to have a small business (In home) specializing in wedding cakes, but I also hope to nail down a contract here in town with a restaurant to make their cinnamon rolls/desserts. I will also bake specialty desserts for catered events occasionally. Those are my goals, who knows where it will really lead? I don't plan on getting very large as this is my second career. I just retired, 23 years with the school district. So, hopefully that will leave me a little time for family and travel.

I've no nicknames, just Betsy. Any ideas for names you can come up with would be greatly appreciated!

I have played with some names, I'm using one as my username...Sweetcakes. I like short and sweet.
But it makes sense to keep with the beginning of the alphebet as suggested! So, something with Betsy in it would be good too.
Thanks!
