Cake For Live Televison Broadcast...enjoyed By The Dog!

My 13 year old daughter worked very hard on a special birthday cake for our neighbor's Quadruplets 1st birthday last week. The number one rated TV morning crew was coming over beginning at 5am to broadcast live from their house since they'd done a story on the babies when they were born last year at 8 weeks early. She had worked for hours on the cake for them and the night before the TV show we carefully delivered the cake to the home, set it on the kitchen table and went upstairs to say hi to the babies. Not 5 minutes later when we walked back into the kitchen to show off the cake to the parents, what do we find?? Their medium sized dog gobbling up a large portion of the cake off the kitchen table. He was in heaven! Buttercream must be his favorite! Cake #2 was quickly thrown together and ready for the 5am arrival of the cameras. We were exhausted but so delighted to be celebrating the 1st birthday of these healthy precious little angels, Matthew, Myles, Leah and John.
I am sure your hearts sank when you saw the dog! Luckily, you had time to do another cake.
Do you have pictures of one or both cakes? We would love to see them.

I'll try to SCRAPE one together! Actually, I think in all the flurry of activity we didn't get a complete photo! Things can get crazy with 4 babies and a sugar over-loaded Shiba Inu!!
Here is a photo of ONE of the cakes my daughter made for the quadruplets. Since they were born on St. Patrick's Day, she made their cake a 4 leaf clover. It was made up of 4 individual hearts, put together to form a shamrock. Each baby received the heart with his/her name on it to dig in to after the birthday song.
That is so cute and your daughter is avery special 13 year old, not many would take their time to do something so special. Caixa.
Those babies are soooooo cute! I am so impressed that a 13 year old would spend such a long time making a beautiful cake. It is amazing!!!!
That's a cute cake. Maybe it's the color green! My yorkie devoured a green 6-inch from the trash the other day that had been a "fallen top tier" and it was chocolate so I was worried about her but she had no troubles at all except for bouncing off the walls!! Adorable babies and that is one sweet daughter of yours! You must be very proud!
Wow- what did they parents say?
If I had a dog to call my own...I would have been PO'd! Let's just say- that dog would be put in the bathroom in a time out!
Cute cake and babies. My brother has quads that are 4 years old, but unfortunately they just moved from New York to Paris. He has a total of 6 kids(5 girls and 1 boy).
Your daughter did a great job on the cakes!
Tell your daughter to continue doing what she loves doing . . . cake decorating and helping with quads! What a blessing the babies are!
I like putting the dog in the bathroom in a "time out". Mine would have been locked up for days until I finally remembered how cute she is and felt bad. Like last night when we came home she had gotten the hot dog buns off the table and eaten them. (Maybe she was hot and hungry
They're like the kids and want to be a part of everything. [/quote]
After enjoying a portion of the cake, all we could do is look at him and say in the words of Randy Jackson of American Idol fame:
"I DON'T KNOW, DOG! YOU STARTED OUT ALL OVER THE PLACE,...AND IN THE MIDDLE YOU WERE KINDA ALL OVER THE PLACE, BUT TOWARD THE END YOU WERE SORTA ALL OVER THE PLACE. I DONT KNOW, IT WAS JUST ALL RIGHT FOR ME, DOG. "
Ok, enough American Idol humor. The dog spent the night in the garage, lest he leave behind some remains of green buttercreme frosting on the white carpet! Honestly, I think it was worth the punishment to him, he just looked very happy with a green frosting mustache!
Oh yes, after the fiasco, we then looked at the Grandma who said, "Ace", (name of dog changed to protect identity)" YOU KNOW YOU'RE ONE OF MY FAVORITES. YOU ARE SO REAL. YOU LOOKED REALLY COMFORTABLE IN YOUR OWN FUR TONIGHT, AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. YOU ARE JUST SO CUTE, AND YOU MADE IT YOUR OWN. GOOD JOB!"
To that the Father of the Quads replied with confidence and an English accent, "WELL, ACE (dog's name changed to protect identity),.....IF I'M GOING TO BE HONEST HERE, I HAVE TO SAY THAT I REALLY HATE SAD PUPPY EYES AND I REALLY HATE YOUR ANTICS WEEK AFTER WEEK, AND I HATE YOUR BEHAVIOUR. IT'S SOMEWHAT NIGHTMARISH. YOU LOOKED SOMEWHAT LIKE A HIPPO ON STERIODS. BUT BEFORE ANYONE ELSE BOOS ME,......I DO LOVE YOUR ENTHUSIASM AND STYLE. SO GOOD JOB!"
Perhaps your daughter should consider baking cakes for dogs. I'm sure they'd be a treat for any 4-legged friend of hers.
John they are always eating something they shouldn't. At least everything came together at the end.
You guys are hysterical - I love the Randy Jackson impression! Hey, all you can do is have a sense of humor in situaitions like this - what else can you do?! But I wanted to tell you what a sweet, loving, giving daughter you have! I wish more kids were like her these days - you should be very proud! I know she was proud of her cake! Thanks for sharing the story!
