I think I've read that either of these can be added to fondant to make it more like gumpaste? Is one better than the other? I've added gumtex to my fondant and while it does seem to spead up drying time, it doesn't feel as pliable as gumpaste; and to be honest; seems to crack easier than the fondant without it (less pliable than fondant!) Could I be adding too much or would tylose be better?

Hi lisa - I haven't used gumtex... I do use tylos though... and you only need a little bit. I only add about a teaspoon (maybe less) to the size of about a baseball. I haven't had any problems, and like the results!

Hey Allison. Thanks for the quick response. Maybe I added too much gumtex to my fondant; as I'm pretty sure it was more like a TB than a tsp; and the fondant probably wasn't even the size of a baseball. It definitely made the fondant dry quicker, but it didn't feel elastic at all. I'm gonna be more careful with my measuring next time! May be one of those cases where a little is good; but a lot is not!
