How Do I Defrost A Cake....wrapped Or Unwrapped?

Doing this today for the first time and not sure about the wrapping. I hope to carve it slightly frozen, from what I have been reading on CC. Thanks for your help!

The cakes shoul sit out wrapped. If you unwrap them there is the chance of the condensation getting on the cakes. I have also heard of thawing them wrapped in the reefer but have never done it that way.

Thanks for the help....I used your advice, and the cake went together well, and after my husband ate some of the scraps, he said he couldn't tell the difference if it was frozen or not!

Whenever I need to carve a cake, or have to make it a few days in advance, I always wrap it - more than you would think you should...lol. (we live on the gulf coast and frequently have fish, shrimp, crabs,etc. in there...and even with the baking soda in the freezer there's no guarantees!) Then I let them thaw, still wrapped, on the counter. Works like a charm! And my DH loves the scraps too...I always use him as my tester to make sure no other flavors seeped into that cake somehow! LOL icon_razz.gif
