should I dowel them or do you think they will be ok just with the filling and the dam? I am making a grad cake for a friend for this weekend. ALso, should I bake the rounds ahead and freeze them so they will be easier to stack and decorate? What should I do? I am a newbie with only Wilton class I under my belt. Thanks!

Hi Nicked 527:

If you are baking a double layer cake and torting them and it is only the double layer they don't need to be doweled. But if you are making 3 or 4 layers and different sizes then yes you need to dowel them.

Hope this helps.
