My husband recently suggested I do a web site for my cakes. Neither of us are computer people. How do you get it started also is it expensive to do? Thanks for your help

I am not very computer savy, but I set up a free one at freewebs.com. I was surprised that I did it all on my own! It isnt spectacular, but I just wanted a place to put my photos for people who were interested in seeing my cakes. You can click on the link below and see mine. Also there is a link I believe for you to set up your own. Occasionally it has some gliches, but works pretty good. It is free anyway!

Merissa-your cakes are terrific! I LOVE the first one that I see-blue flowers and butterflies. It's beautiful!
There have been several threads posted about websites. If you put that word into the search engine here, just browse the forums and see what others have said. They range from freeweb to paying a few thousand dollars to have a professional design one. Good luck!

Sometimes I wish my hubby were a cookie. Then when he ticked me off I could just bite off his head.

thank you! It was pretty easy. Like I said, I dont have a lot of computer knowledge and I did it by myself without the help of my husband. He thought I did a pretty good job and he is picky about that stuff! He didnt try and do it over anyway! Might as well check it out. It is free and it didnt take that long to get it going, just a couple of hours of work. I tried a few other free ones and I just didnt get it. I couldnt understand how to do it.

OH Marissa! YOU are the one that recommended freewebs.com! Thank you!
I was looking through threads one night and came acrossed yours! I am actually a little computer savvy so this one was very easy for me! But, the thought of making my own website was so scary. When I tried this one I love it! Does take a while for some things and a few gliches here and there..but hey! It's free!

My husband has a website business and might be able to help, it's a start up business and he is excellent. His website costs are resonable and he can customized the site to be as little or as big as you want. He can also set it up so that you can maintain the site yourself. His website is wolf359design.com. Good luck!

Merissa,
Do you have to pay a monthly charge to be on that web site? Your cakes really are beautiful. I am starting to venture out into making wedding cakes to sell. I would like to have my own web site but I don't have enough wedding cakes yet to actually make a web site. So I ordered round and square cake dummies yesterday and I am going to make a few wedding cakes with them, photograph them and then put them on my web site when I get it. It sounds like alot of work though.

No I do not pay for the site. If you want your own domain (ie dont have to write www.freewebs etc etc) then you can pay for it.
