OK I finally have my act together LOL... I uploaded my pics and edited them tonight. By that I mean cropping and what not nothing has been done to enhance the actual appearance of the cookies. I am still deciding if I should post them to the Cookie gallery/my album.

For those of you that don't already know these are sugar cookies decorated with Alice cookie icing.

The tulips were hand painted.

Thanks for all the support fellow cookie addicts.

Princess
P.S. Kos thinks I brought my A-Game!!!! And I am thinking damn if I keep setting the bar too high for myself pretty I will need a ladder just to be able to reach it coz my little legs wont allow me to reach that high!!!

Cake Princess, it's me again. I think you are at the A+ stage right about now. You remind me of those girls in high school that were in honors classes and were mad if they missed an answer on a test but still got an A+. (LOL!!!) Your cookies are great and you should post them everywhere. Hey, any blank billboards in your town. I bet that would bring in a lot of business. I'd certainly like a cookie!!!!!! Keep up the wonderful work.

OMG... that's so like me. Did we go to the same high school?? LMAO icon_biggrin.gif Reminds me of the time I did not take notes in class for 3 weeks then had a test and the teacher gave me 28.5/30 and I complained about it. She gave me one more mark and I was P.O. at her because she should have given me perfect. She admitted that she marked me incorrectly but wanted to punish me for not taking notes and chatting for the last three weeks. Oh gosh the silly things we do in high school icon_biggrin.gif

Ok I will edit and post more pics tomorrow then we can decide which ones to put in the gallery. But right now I am gonna quickly browse the forums and then go to bed.

Thanks again...

I really love the tulips. I read where your guy-friend thought they were roses. Um, what do guys really know about flowers? dunce.gif I think the stamens pretty much said it all on those! icon_wink.gif

How do you paint with Alice's? Is it like the embroidery technique?? By the way, do you think you should change your name to Cookie Princess now?

LMAO @ skeered no ma'am I ain't skeered LOL. I just like the freedom to add and delete my pics at will. I can only do that in the forums not the galleries.

Oh about my guy friend that's was his excuse, Imma guy what do I know about flowers.

As for the how to, I used a square tip brush and applied the icing to get that effect. And about changing my name to Cookie Princess... that would be a bit pretentious don't you think? LMAO

Wow, those are incredible!! What technique did you use for the bottom layer of icing? (Paint on, dip, pipe on, flow in with bottles, etc?) thanks for showing your awesome work!!

I painted them with a square tipped brush.
Apply the background then paint on top with the yellows and oranges. Orange laid down 1st then the yellow. It needs to be on fairly thick before you start spreading it.

It's like painting on canvas I suppose.

Edit:

Darn I misread your question and never noticed that I did before. LOL, I tend to do a lot of misreading on here in an effort to get through all the threads.

The background was smoothed with a spatula. I do apologize.

LOL I feel like a goof. LOL I just noticed this like days later LOL...

For something more complex I would use a stencil but this was a simple shape so I winged it. If you looked at all 3 cookies with the couple they are subtle differences that you would not see with a stencil. But basically lay down the orange background pipe the outline of the silhouette then fill in and use a brush to smooth the black out. Then overpipe to give a 3-D effect and to hide any imperfections of the edge of the black.

And no I did not thin the icing to flood consistancy.

Thank you very much. I am glad you like them.

Maybe more tedious than harder. They definately require some patience.

But yes, I especially find it tedious when I am experimenting with different ideas. This was the case with my tulips. This was the first time making them so I was playing it by ear so to speak. By the fourth one I had had enough but still had one more to go. It was fun though.

I think the next flower I might attempt will be an orchid. Who knows. It depends on my mood.

Just LOVE 'em!!! I wish I were that good with hand painting cookies!! I always say that i'm going to try them when my kids ask me to bake cookies for an event or something, but i always end up using a cutter and icing them straight. GREAT JOB!!!

Thank you. That's the first time I tried hand-painting them I did not like them I keep looking at them thinking no one will know what they are suppose to be. You just have to be willing to experiment and try new things. It actually is not that hard. I kept a picture of tulips handy to see where the various colors go and I was fine. My next set of tulips I will be able to reproduce without looking at the picture. Invest in a set of brushes and give it a try. Start with something simple if that's easier for you.

Don't hold me to that Pink. I need something that inspires me to attempt them. I love orchids and I would hate to do them an injustice.

Thank you Angie941mx.
