Does everyone else who has a cake business website get as many people looking for random things contacting you as I do?

I get people from all over asking me where they can find things like champagne fountains, wedding cake toppers... even tuxedo rental! Most of these people aren't even close to being local to me... it's kind of annoying, but I try to be helpful.

I usually do a search to see what I can find before responding, but then I wonder why I'm wasting my time? I mean, why can't they do their own d*** searches instead of contacting a cake decorator halfway across the country to ask about florists? Are they just STUPID?

Ugh, sorry about the tangent... just wondering if I was alone in this.

wow - that's pretty odd isnt it? i don't have my website up and running yet, but that was certainly not what i would anticipate! have to prepare for anything i guess. i would probably point them to "google" and tell them to do a search in with their city name in it! i mean, what can you do!? icon_rolleyes.gif

I do a lot of baking for myself and for one major caterer who can keep me BZ. I don't mind helping anyone at all. However, All one has to do is type words in their search engines and so many things will come up. Perhaps some people are computer shy and don't know ez this is. I have wondered about that too.

I don't have a web site. But my mother in law is a wedding officiant.
And I am always hearing her talk about her friend who's web based business is to arrange the entire wedding. Kind of a one stop shop for all your needs and questions. I think it's actually very common to have web sites that can link you to anything and everything to do with weddings. So maby in their web searching you are showing up and they are assuming you do it all?
They have you confused with doing more than cakes some how icon_smile.gif!
Maby when they call you ask how they found you, what web site, or link connected your CAKE business with a one stop wedding shop icon_lol.gif .

This could get very intreasting.......let us know when you figure it out icon_smile.gif .

God Bless,
Cristacake

I think you're just special. icon_wink.gif The majority of people don't know how to utilize the internet. With Google, you would think finding info. is foolproof. I spend a lot of time answering inquiries and it can be challenging at times.
