I have another stupid technique question that I just can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

I can pipe all kinds of things with Tip#2...but when it comes to Tip#1, when I go to pipe, it just comes out all swirling lines. I can't seem to make a straight line at all. I don't know if I am pressing too hard or what...and why it makes such a big difference of just one tip size!!! Any hints???? icon_cry.gif

I had the same problem for a while. I think you just go a little slower a use a little lighter pressure (I know that's probably frustrating since you have to push harder to get the icing thru such a small tip). It takes some practice, but you can do it.

You might have a tip that has a manufacturing defect in it that makes the hole not quite round, but more likely your icing is too stiff for the smaller hole. Add a little bit of piping gel to it. You can try thinning it out with just water, but you don't want the icing so thin that it doesn't hold a nice shape or breaks on you. Piping gel is better.

Thanks guys...I will try adding a little more gel (I am always afraid I will add to much). I never thought the tip might be bad! I will take a good close look at it..

Don't worry about adding too much gel. Even if you add a big gob of gel, the worst you'll have is an opaque gel. icon_wink.gif

Maybe thin the icing a bit more so it comes out better. Helen
