Can anyone tell me please if there is a certain buttercream recipe that I should use if I want to air dry buttercream flowers? I have been freezing my flowers but I'm out of room in the freezer and I need to try to store them somewhere else. Also, how long can you store buttercream flowers? Thanks so much for your help. I really do appreciate it.

some people say you don't need a specific recipe as long as you don't use milk in yours.
I was recently given an air dried buttercream recipe and will dig it out for you.

I just had to make some air dried flowers and just used the pure shortening recipe for the buttercream. They are sitting in the refridgerator and are fine. I will not be using them for another 3 weeks, I think they keep up to 4 weeks. I would think that if you use all shortening and water, you could store them on the counter, they just would not last as long.

You could use the Snow White Buttercream recipe from Wilton. Wh the flowers are dry they have a translucent look to them. It should last quite a while since there is no milk in the recipe.
