NEW FEATURE: Ignore List

What is an Ignore List?

The ignore list allows you to select specific members of CakeCentral.com to ignore.
This means that anyone you add to your ignore list will not be able to send you any Private Messages or emails via the CakeCentral.com forum.

I sent a PM to a user and they haven't written back, am I on thier ignore list?
Here is how the ignore list works. It should really be called the "Block User" list. If you are on someone's ignore list, they cannot send you any PMs or emails via the cakecentral website. When you go to send the message, it comes back with an error, that you are not authorized to send PMs to that user.

"Ignore" was probably not the best term to use because what it really does it "block" the user, so they can't even send a PM to begin with.

If you wrote a PM to someone and they have not responded, its possible they havent had the time to write back yet, so just be patient. icon_smile.gif

Why do we need an Ignore List?

On occassion some members would prefer not to receive PMs from other people for thier own reasons.
For the most part, most of you will not find it necessary to use this feature.

However if anyone is receiving spam or otherwise foul/threatening PMs, please notify myself, Heath of one of the moderators.

In addition the admins of this site will never add anyone to thier ignore lists.

Ignore List Restrictions

Users cannot add Admins or Moderators to thier ignore list.

great feature! thx

Great idea.

I just hope it is used in circumstances that warrant it (and I am sure there are many).

I hope it is not used by people who just don't want to share.... after all that is what this site is about. If people don't want to share the info or technique then they should be honest and say so.

Yeah- I agree with this too. I'd prefer to receive an answer that said "no" instead of being ignored and then then blocked from any further communication.

I got accused of ignoring and not sharing the other day, It was a misunderstanding because I never received her PM requesting information and I have done alot of sharing!!!

I just want to know...

If someone was on your ignore list (not that she was ... or will be) would there be some kind of notification sent to them saying there message could not be sent?

I don't think I will ever use the ignore feature! I'm too lazy to argue with anyone!!! I would like to know If I was being ignored though!!!

The "Ignore" Feature will not allow a person to send a PM at all.

Upon clicking "sumit" to try and send the message, the person sending it would receive an error message, stating they are unauthorized to send PMs to that person.

"Ignore" was perhaps not the best term for me to use, as its more of a "Block this user" than "ignore"

I just wanted to let everyone know that I added a clarification about how the ignore feature works, as thier seems to be a lot of confusion.

While I do understand the necessity of such an addition-I can see some hurt feeling coming up if someone decides to misuse it. I would rather say NO I'm sorry I can't share that with you (not that there is any spectacular thing that someone would want info on) than an ignore but can understand hateful pm's should be blocked etc.
What you do may be a "little thing" but "little things" add to alot!
