Don't give up. It sounds like you are doing a cake from scratch. I do some teaching in my home. Some of the students are timid about doing scratch cakes. At the end of the classes they make them just fine. For those students we start out with mixes. These always turn out well. You still need one of these, baking strips around your cake, or if you are willing to try it a pan of water in the oven along with your cakes. Make sure there is enough room in your oven for the cake pans so the heat circulates around them. Preheat your oven for at 45 mins before you put your cakes in. And most important, get an oven termometer to check oven temp. Most ovens are off. There you have it.

Maisza, I recommend that you check out this following website. Click the link

http://www.baking911.com/cakes/problems.htm

I hope that helps.

If you are taking classes try using a cake mix so that you have something to take to class with you to decorate.

Don't give up or be intimidated by cakes sinking or other baking problems. We all have cakes that don't do what we want. Only the other day my cake burnt on one side, but I tried again and the next try it was perfect! Family and friends are great for using up problem cakes on!
Don't give up, it just takes practice!

well, your cake is just adorable-LOVE the cow. i don't know why you're having problems with the baking. i usually just do cake mixes and doctor them up because scratch cakes give me problems and i'm more of a decorator, not baker icon_biggrin.gif

So glad you found something that works for you! I've been doing this off and on since 1969, and I still can't make a scratch cake that's worth a dime! So, you're ahead of me in that regard! Nice cake! Just keep practicing, practicing, practing, and you'll be amazed at what you can do!
