Hi and Welcome,

The White Almond Sour Cream Cake is a doctored cake mix - which provides homemade taste and texture with box mix reliability:

Welcome to CC!!! I use cake mixes all the time and have never had any trouble with fondant! I like to doctor them up a bit like JanH said! There are so many great ideas on here, I would suggest going to the search engine and spending some time there! Here is a really helpful forum

JanH rocks!!!! Here is a link she send me a while ago for a denser cake!!

I really like to add an extra egg, a 1/2 cup of sour cream and a box of pudding! Only use the box of pudding if you are using DH (Duncan Hines) cause Betty Crocker already has pudding in it! Hope this helps!
