outlining and flooding

OK i have a question for all you expert cookie decorators:
i have just started getting into decorating cookies. I've looked around the site (lots of wonderful information) and read through some treads. no to my question....
i outline my cookies then flood, but i don't get that flat neat look, you can still see a distinct outline. how do i get rid of that? add more flood?

how can i go about skipping the outline and go right to flooding? keep the royal to a stiffer consistency?

btw i use royal for the most part

I believe the key is to flood before the outline dries.....
Mmmm, is it done yet?

Outline with the same thin consistency icing that you flood with. Then flood right away. It will all blend together. Antonia74 has a cookie tutorial on here, and she makes beautiful cookies!
