For the life of me, I can NOT cover a 3D ball (small or large) with fondant without having tons of wrinkles and folds and junk at the bottom! If I try to gently stretch it, I get holes. If I try not to stretch it, I get wrinkles and folds. Is there some sort of pattern I can be cutting out of the fondant that will fit around a ball? I make lots of 3D animals or etc cakes and I cannot get my fondant nice. Even in my photo folder, anytime you see a fondant "head" on a cake, the back side will have terribly messy work at the "neck" in the back. Any clues? The small mini 3D ball is even worse!

In one of my Debbie Brown books, she covers a globe in fondant...... It says to trim the excess fondant away with a knife and then "melt" the join with the warmth from your hands.
