icon_smile.gif after you put the fondant over the cake, start smoothing at the corners, then the sides. icon_smile.gif

A warm welcome to both of you...enjoy yourselves.

I also would like to know the answer.

prettycakes is right--on squares, hexagons, hearts--start at the "points" first.

Smooth the top of the layer, go straight down gently on each corner, and then slowly & gently ease in the execess between two corners.

I just did my first fondant cake (for my class) and followed the advice I found here. Elevate your cake ( I used a large can of tomatoes) and drape your fondant over your cake. When you do that it allows the fondant to hand nicely and then I went around with a pair of kitchen shears and snipped away the excess. Great advice here...it made it very easy for me, no problem at all with the corners

Best,
