I made a little gray elephant out of the wilton ready made fondant - I colored it myself. Now, about 3 weeks later, it is turning a weird shade of gray, so it looks terrible. Is there anything I can do now - it is totally hard since I used gumtex. I don't want to have to buy another whole package of fondant for one little elephant!

thanks,
lisa

sorry to hear about your elephant gone bad. Don't have much advise since my fondant skills are still new but I did learn a tip to help out if you decide to open another box of fondant.

put the left overs in a vacuum seal bag and seal it up. The stuff will stay fresh for ever so long in one of these bags. I've had some for six months that is still soft. icon_eek.gif

I just break of a small piece as needed and reseal the bag.

sorry I couldn't help. But at least this will give your question a bump. thumbs_up.gif

Try painting it. Thin out some gel paste with a little vodka or clear vanilla and paint it. Dab some on a piece of paper until you get the color you want. That should help.

that's what I would suggest, just painting it with some luster dust even for a sparkly effect..like silver.....or Im sure you could use petal dusts since they are a matt finish or the gel like kitti said......sounds like you had it in the light......if you leave them out in the sunlight at all they will discolor terribly
