Is anyone familiar with these two issues as they apply to the state of Wisconsin, specifically the city of Madison? Ive been searching online without any luck. Thanks so much for the help!

Hi Susecita,
I was just going to post something along those lines (Milwaukee WI location). Didn't you just get a new job? Would they be able to help? I just want to know the rules and regulations so i can begin selling. Have you found good ways to practice. I think my family is going to burst with all the cakes that ive made...

Car,

The job is for practice but I am also interested in starting to explore venues for my own creations. At work I will have a set design and rules, I want the creative power that comes with having your own business. I actually found a bit on Milwakee. I know, for example, that you guys have incubators kitchens around the area. You can rent these places, they give you business advice, etc. If you type in kitchen incubator and Milwakee you will be sure to find it. Madison, alas, has none of these things. There is also a place that assists women with business enterprises. They do microlending and have a couple of establishments where they sell the products of the people they lend money to. You might want to check it out. Can't remember the name now. I hope this helps some. I hope we also get some more info from other peeps.

S and C:
Call your County resaurant/retail food licensing. If they can't help you, they will tell you who can.

S:
I know you are excited to start your own, but my advice is to hang tight a bit and learn all that you can from this guy. Then branch out. He may also have a no competitor clause for you to sign. It just depends what his bus. actually does. And, he may pay to have you certified. I had a job offer that to me. It will save you $100 or more.

Most likely you will need to have a food handling certification certificate and possibly be licensed.

C:
I grabbed a flyer years ago about a rental kitchen. Of course, I don't have it anymore and cannot figure where the facility might be. Maybe it doesn't exisit anymore. I've made a few calls about it, with no luck so far, but that was a few years ago. I'd be curious to know what you find out too.

LC-I spoke a bit to the owner of the shop. Yes, I want to get experience first but both she and I agree that the hope is to eventually have me go out on my own. She even offered a smaller bus. she has that she could sell to me. She said that if along the way I become good and decide this is what I want we can work out the business thing. I am asking now because I am a planner. I plan for everything in advance. I did research for a year before purchasing a puppy :-p!

Here is a place I found for Milwaukee: http://www.wwbic.com/cwac.html

Never a bad thing to plan ahead. Lots of people don't think ahead at all!!! I'm with YOU!!! I always also plan for the worse case scenario, so that I don't have to scramble is something doesn't go as planned!!!

Thanks for the link. It looks like the one I posted is OLD info. But maybe it will give you something to work from?
