Does anyone of you nice people out there have any tips on this type of border???

I've only done it on some dummy cakes, and I'm not happy with my results. Here's a pic. It's the bottom border, now that I see the pic...I should have fixed the top border, but oh well, it was just a dummy.

TIA!!!!

What tip are you using for your reverse shell? Don't be afraid to experiment with other tips. Looks like you have the concept down. How about making your tail just a bit longer so the shells aren't so close together. HTH!

I think I was actually using tip 20 or 21...should I use a smaller tip??

For some reason, I keep making the "swirl" again and again instead of reversing them.

Thanks for the input.

Just takes practice! And yeah I agree, if you make the tail a bit longer you'll be able to see the reverse better. thumbs_up.gif

Well, I'll try to help with my limited knowledge. When I do the reverse shell I start with a question mark, then say to my self " in, out, in, out" , as I reverse every other one. That way I don't forget to curve them in opposite directions. I hope you can understand my way of explaining. Probably clear as mud, huh? By the way yours look very pretty.

subaru, that's funny! I chant to myself, "This way, thata way, this way, thata way..." mmdd, maybe try a 19 too! Sometimes, borders have a way of overpowering the cake.

GolfGirl. If you are ever up in Iowa give me a hollar, I would be happy to help. I am right handed however I learned different techniques from two left handed decorators so I have kind of become Amedextrious (sp?) I tend to do things as a lefty and righty. How close to KS are you? I try to make it to my Great Grandpa's once a year (near Butler, MO)

I would love to help but atm don't see a trip in my near future.

You may try by practicing your rosettes first, I always tell my students that reverse shells are part rosettes part shell, keep your tails nice and straight and you have a reverse shell. I hope this helps, yours don't look bad.

Thank you, I'm gonna try that tomorrow. I think it's the extra little "oompf" that I need.
