Wilton's Icing Sculptor

Help me please!!!

Last year I bought this icing sculptor

http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?id=3E31A21B-475A-BAC0-51A3CBEF4593810B&fid=3E32F518-475A-BAC0-535818F5D52DA731

But,to no avail....I could NEVER get it to work right for me, so I just gave up on it. Recently, I dug it out and attempted it again........hmmm......I think it's going up for sale cuz I still couldn't get it to work right.

I mean, they sell this thing in Walmart, how hard can it be, right?!?!

Can anyone help....please???

Make sure your icing is of the right consistency and thick enough to run the sculptor around your cake.

I believe it said to run it over the icing as soon after I iced the cake as possible, but it just seems like I get a mushy mess.

Maybe I should just try again.

Thanks for the help, cashley!

Maybe your pushing it too hard and I would hold it at a 45 degree angle so you pull the icing away as you are doing it.

I purchased this sculptor also and wish I hadn't. I can't get that thing to work right, either. Not only does it not give me the designs correctly but many of the pegs stay loose no matter what I do. Oh well, chalk it up to experience, I guess.

I wish this post was up last week. I bought one last week and tried it twice so far. Both times were a disaster and I ended up reicing the cake sides. I chalked it up to needing practice on it, but I too had some of the pegs stay loose while I was trying to scrape. I don't know. I will try again a few times but this might go on freecycle if it continues to be a problem.

I bought the sculpter thing too. I'm glad I had a 40% off coupon for it is all I can say. I made sure my icing was thick enough, like the directions said. I just got a big mess on the sides of my cake, too. And, the pieces kept falling out! LOL What a disaster.

I have this thing. Now, after trying it, all it does is take up space.

My sister got me one for Christmas..thought it was the coolest thing. I haven't actually tried it yet. Is it to late to get the receipt from my sister, you think?

I've used the decorating triangle.......seems to be the same idea. I had to use PLENTY of incing on the cake sides in order to pull of the combed design. Not impressed enought to even try using it again....... Wilton should refund the cost of the sculpter thing....

I think I'll be putting up for sale on ebay or in a yardsale with my 3-d ducky pan. LOL

There was a question here a while back asking what was the most useless thing cake related that you bought, and the icing sculptor won hands down!

SInce I only bought mine last week and still had the reciept, I called Wilton. The rep I spoke to was very helpful and actually offered to refund my money plus 5 dollars once she recieves the kit and reciept. She is even going to send a mailing lable so I do not have to pay for shipping. I don't know if they realize there is a problem and that is why she is doing this or what. Like I said though, she is only doing this because I have the reciept and box and only bought is last week, sp anyone who has bought is reciently and still has that stuff, call wilton.

Maybe we should all contact wilton & complain to them....I posted a discussion of it on their forum, but last time I checked, no one had even replied to it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem!!!
