Could anyone please advise me on making a SpongeBob SquarePants cake? My 3 year old son would like one for his birthday and the local bakeries don't have anything I like.
Would appreciate any help!

The character pan from wilton is REALLY easy, I made one...it's in my photos.
You might want to do a search on here or on a search engine and see what you come up with.
Maybe I'll do that now and help ya out a bit.
he is most definitely a popular cartoon character... I am sure you will find something you like and do it better then you ever imagined...
I also made a SpongeBob (in my photos).
I searched through google for a picture of SpongeBob, enlarged it, printed it out, cut it out and had a pattern. I baked a sheet cake, put the pattern on and cut it out.

Heather just don't forget the nose on your SpongeBob like I did. Nobody said a thing and when I was cleaning up after the party I noticed it! *Sigh*

I have several Spongebobs in my photos. Will send you the patterns if you are interested.

That is so funny I throught that I was bad enough...forgot to add his eyelashes on one of my cakes.
Here is my SpongeBob 'gallery.'
The one I did in the Wilton character cake pan has fondant eyes, tongue, teeth, shirt/sleeves, and sponge holes. The rest is in buttercream.
The other ones are piping gel transfers which I filled it with buttercream. I don't really like the flat look of FBCT so I prefer pattern transfer & bc fill-in.
Have fun! SpongeBob rules!
