Hi!

Does anyone have an easy orange buttercream receipe? I was wondering whether I could add marmalade/orange jam or orange zest and/or juice to the Whipped Cream Buttercream Frosting found in the receipes section? And if so, could this buttercream last without refridgeration coz there's no dairy products?

thank you!

Hi! I would add marmalade and/or orange extract and zest to a regular buttercream recipe. Since the marmalade has preservatives, I'd like to think this icing would last as long as any other buttercream recipe (a few days).

Thanks prettytoya. I think i'll try the marmalade & zest and see how it goes!
THanks!

You can also substitute the water requested to make the buttercream for juice-orange juice or some orange liqueur like Grand Menier.

Hi!

I couldn't make it to the store to get the marmalade ( 2 toddlers etc....) so i winged it by using what i had - that is , orange oil and fresh orange zest and it came out pretty good! not sweet but a nice orangy tangy and had a fresh taste to it!! my hubby liked it - and he's become quite particular ever since i started baking!

i think the marmalade mixed in would be a sweeter bet but becoz i'm using the ultimate buttercake ( blittle's recommendation) i didn't want it to be too sweet since the buttercake is already rich and sweet.
