Witon color flow question

I have a queation about color flow icing and I hope someone can help. How long can you keep and where do you store the icing if you have leftover from a project? I was told you can't keep it, but I can't find anything in the wilton books or the class books I teach from. I am going to also email Wilton, but I wanted to try the great minds here first hoping to get a quicker respone and probably and more truthful answer.

Hey Letseatcake,

I make my color flow ahead of time so when I need it I just open it up. I store it in a mason (jelly) jar, cover with saran wrap & then the jar lid. I store it in my pantry. You could put it in a cabinet too. I don't know how long it will stay good. I have had mine stored for over a month & it still worked when I needed it. Maybe someone else can tell you about the self life. I just live & learn with all my icings. Something that lasts long for me might not last long with someone else. Hope this helps you~

does that stuff dry hard as a rock??...and can you eat it??...what does it taste like??? i want to try that, but wonder if its worth it. icon_cool.gif

Diane,

It dries the same as royal icing.It tastes like royal icing and yes you can eat it!! It actually is really good on decorated cookies!!I'm going to be doing colorflow firetruck cookies for my son's 4 th birthday in May.I will post pictures then!!
