Yeah, they are expensive. You can get some cheaper on ebay though. I've been dreaming of getting some of them myself. I've seen them for sale on websites for $200 and more. I think it is called a cake plateau?
I was just at Ross For Less and found a cake stand simular to that which I was nuts about until I opened. It looked better on the box.
Did find a beautiful Mikasa lead crystal one for only $20. Wahoo!
Let us know where you find one if it's not to expensive.
Happy hunting.

You can purchase these plateaus online. Just do a search of "cake plateaus." I purchased a 14 in. round plateau at a local cake store for 80.00. I will be purchasing an 18 in. that will be around 120.00. I think it depends on where you buy it.
the prices on this website seem to be way cheaper then those described above!

I have been wanting some plateaus too and found a 12" round one at Big Lots for only $12.99 about a month ago. It looks just as good as those I've seen that are very expensive and even has a mirror on the top.
I wonder why they are so expensive. They can't be real silver...humm...
Ebay just kills ya on the shipping fees. Oh well. Good luck!

my mom got me the one from big lots for x-mas and it's just lovely. and that is a very good price. i did see it again after x-mas at big lots..
I'm SO going to Big Lots !!!!!
I got one from www.cakesbysam.com for my wedding. I got a huge square one though. They do have round ones. They ship fast (and sometimes free), and have great service!

Their stuff is pretty decent too. I have ordered a few 16" stands as well as a dozen of the 8" stands from them and not only is the price and quality good, but the shipping is reasonable too.
I've not seen these in Australia yet. Have you actually seen one with a cake on somewhere, or just photos?
I got mine at big Lots for 12.99 and it look great like the high price ones and it is 12inch and holds the cakes fine!

I haven't seen one in Australia, just seen them a lot in photos.
Thanks for all your replies, they are most helpful. It seems they are less expensive that I initially thought, so I am hopeful.

This is a GREAT chat board. Thanks for the www.weddingcakestands.com info. I just e-mailed my sister who was looking for Tussie Mussies for her daughter's wedding....
I'm going to order the cake cutting set for my son's wedding in August.
Previously, I thought that www.galasource.com had good prices (free shipping) on their plateaus.
Thanks again, you guys are AWESOME!!!!
